My dream journey begins with India

This time last year I was meandering around the busy streets of India with my boyfriend, just beginning our 6 month adventure – photographing the world, which has always been a dream of mine. Within a year I have literally stepped out of one dream and into another, running my very own photography business!

I can’t quite believe how different life is to 2 years ago working in an office 5 days a week, always looking forward to holidays or upcoming events, not enjoying the here and now. Well I can safely say I am loving life!! Not only do I look forward to the future, I appreciate the here and now, enjoy my time with friends and family that I missed when I was away and regularly reminiscing of my past. If you have a dream, an idea, a venture you’ve always had in your mind… Just go for it! It’s been the best 2 years of my life.

India in a nutshell…

A year on, I am proudly displaying some of my work from this magical and enticing country that completely blew our expectations!

It’s safe to say we didn’t utter a word on the entire journey from the airport in our rattling mini van clonking its way down the dusty roads to our small family-run hotel. We were taken aback with the completely different world we had entered. Watching as we went by, the overwhelming amount of vehicles, people, buildings, smells, noises of voices, horns beeping, banging and the sound of the firecrackers on the last few days of Diwali. Delhi is truly a city that never sleeps.

The food, oh the food. Besides the inconvenience of my allergy to both seafood and nuts and the difficulty communicating this everywhere we went… the food I did get to taste was incredible, tender meat and sauces bursting with flavours, the best Roti’s I’d ever tasted and my boring but favourite dish has to be the Butter Chicken.

The hospitality we received during our stay in Delhi, Agra, Mathura & Jaipur was second to none. Madhu (or Honey Auntie), Sachin, Gulshan, Manish, Smriti, Rhea & Rish to name just a few of the incredible souls that made our trip to India much more special and who will remain friends for a lifetime.

From witnessing cruel poverty that will not only be forever a picture in my mind but a life sentence for these who have known no other life, my heart still pulls at the reminder of the people we could not help, from newborn to the elderly; to witnessing a country full of colour, love, music, warmth & happiness. A truly mesmerising experience and a country we look forward to returning to.
